Course outline
This is a hands-on course aimed at helping participants learn how to use the latest Scheduling and Budgeting Movie Magic software.

Working on two different scripts - a contemporary subject, an award winning short drama written by Michael Cumes (Screen Academy Scotland MA Screenwriting graduate 2010) and a period drama - participants will start by learning the fundamentals of breaking down a script into 8ths of pages. With supervision from the course tutor, Susie Brown, course participants will create schedules for both scripts with the software. The budgeting tuition is based on a pre-prepared budget for the period drama, which will allow participants to gain a working knowledge of the budgeting software.
Participant numbers are limited so that each participant has a work station to themselves. Screen Academy Scotland has just upgraded its Movie Magic Scheduling & Budgeting software so participants can benefit from learning on the latest version.

After completing the course you should have gained enough knowledge to use the software effectively and better understand the process and methodology of scheduling and budgeting.
What people have said about the course:
'The course surpassed my expectations'
‘Really good overview’
‘The course was highly useful and Susie was great at explaining everything and making everything clear’
‘The course has really benefitted me.  It was extremely well presented and I had a really good time’

Drama Line Producer Susie Brown has worked in film and television production since 1984.  Susie has managed budgets ranging from £5k to £15 million covering drama, factual, documentary and shorts.  Her credits include Carrington and Ma Vie en Rose, and working with companies such as Channel 4, BBC, and Working Title.

Who’s it for?
• New Producers, Production Managers, Unit Managers, Production Assistants working for Development producers, and those intending to advance to drama production management;
• A.D.s at all levels who are not familiar with the software already;
• Art department assistants who may need to use the software;

The course is aimed at freelancers with minimal or no experience of using the Movie Magic software. However, a working knowledge of scheduling and budgeting is required as the purpose of the course is to provide instruction in the use of the software and is not intended as tuition in these core skills.

To gain maximum benefit from this training a basic knowledge of the Mac operating system would be useful.
