The MA in Screen Project Development offers the opportunity to develop your creative and business skills by taking a live drama, documentary or interactive media project through an intensive development process supported by experienced staff and industry experts.Through a series of professionally taught tutorials, workshops and lectures you can hone your research and story development skills, edit scripts, present and pitch proposals and learn the business of producing - from securing rights and raising finance to doing deals and finding an audience.
You'll collaborate with fellow students and build relationships outside of the programme with creative talent, which should prepare you for the further development and production of projects. By the end of the course you should have a project that's fit to be presented to potential financiers, collaborators or commissioners.

How to apply

Apply online using Edinburgh Napier application form (full time or part time) and upload the following documents:

1. A short proposal
Please outline on one side of A4 the project (or projects) that you envisage working on if your application is successful. Your proposal should tell us:
- whether the project is a documentary, short/feature length fiction, series drama, etc.
- at what stage of development it's at (for example: idea, script or researched treatment)
- who, if anyone, is involved (for example: researcher, writer, director)
- and what you aim to achieve by the end of the programme.
Don't worry if you don't have a firm project at this stage. An indication of the following will help us establish how well the programme matches your aspirations. So please tell us:
- the area or areas you'd like to work in (for example, drama, documentary/factual, animation or interactive)
- what background/knowledge/skills you have that are relevant to that ambition
- and what sorts of projects you would like to develop as part of, or on exiting the programme.
2. Please identify a producer whose work you particularly admire and tell us why.
3. Please supply a CV highlighting the qualities, experiences/, and/or achievements that you feel are most relevant to screen producing.
