Connect with Industry at Screen Academy Scotland
Screen Academy Scotland - A Skillset Film & Media Academy runs a programme of Professional Practice development to support student and graduate professional development through interaction with working industry professionals. The Professional Practice programme at the Film & Media Academy offers mentoring and work placements as well as a range of masterclasses and Professional Practice workshops.
 
 
Creative Collaborations
Creative Collaborations is a regular networking event for Edinburgh Napier and eca filmmaking students. It provides an opportunity for directors, writers, producers and animators to meet each other and form ….. creative collaborations.
The events include speed dating and pitching sessions, screenings of student work as well as opportunities to chat over a glass of wine. These informal networking sessions help students get to know each other and result in many undergraduate and postgraduate collaborations. Caught Short is a biannual competition that seeks to showcase emerging talent from filmmakers with a Scottish connection, regardless of background or training. Films include drama, documentary,animation and experimental works. Each programme is selected and curated by students from Edinburgh Skillset Screen and Media Academy alongside representatives from Filmhouse Cinema and a guest panellist from the film industry. Previous guest panellists have included writer/director Justin Molotnikov, winner of BAFTA Best Film for Crying with Laughter and Clare Kerr, producer of Night People. Each screening is followed by drinks and networking in the Filmhouse bar.
 
Caught Short provides an opportunity for:

Students to develop their critical understanding of film through selecting and curating a shorts programme.

Filmmakers of all backgrounds to see their work on the big screen at one of the UK’s leading independent cinemas

Filmmakers to meet and network with other filmmakers, including professionals working in the industry.

Screen Academy Scotland to further develop its links with the filmmaking community through connecting with Filmhouse, emerging filmmakers and industry professionals. :
