Anne graduated from the MFA Film Directing Course at Edinburgh College of Art in 2010 and has been directing films since then. In 2011 she traveled to Nepal on a Worldview Media grant to make Himalayan Sisters, which won the Editing award at Underwire Festival in 2011. She went on to make Agnes & Nancy, a commissioned film which premiered at IDFA in 2011. Her next project, Into Deep Space, a short film about the search for exo-planets was shown at a number of international festivals including the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York and Dublin where it was awarded a Special Mention.

In 2014 Anne produced Touch Life the first of three short documentaries she produced for the Scottish Documentary Institute’s Bridging the Gap scheme. She went on to produce Bubo’s Limbo (2015)  and most recently Swan (2016), which was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland award and shortlisted for a Grierson Award.

She has also been working with Scottish Documentary Institute on their Stories series, helping to run workshops in Libya, Pakistan and Jordan. The Libyan Stories were made into an anthology feature film, Libya in Motion, which has played at a number of festivals since 2015.

In 2017, Anne directed and edited The World In One City, a feature length documentary which charted the 70 years of the Edinburgh International Festival.

She is currently working on Adventures in Dementia, a 30 minute commission from STV for their This is Scotland series.

She is also the co-founder and co-host of DocKlub, a monthly support group for documentary filmmakers and founding member of the DOCMA collective.

Anne says: “My time at Screen Academy ECA was critical in allowing me the freedom to work on my first documentaries. The guidance and feedback from the teaching staff gave me the support I needed and the confidence to keep going. It was also a wonderful space to meet other filmmakers, form friendships and build a network which has been extremely important as we all navigate the precarious field of professional filmmaking”.
