Screen Academy Scotland hosts and supports a wide range of events that bring together students, academics, researchers, industry professionals and creative practitioners from across Scotland, the UK and beyond. From international conferences and public lectures to screenings, workshops and networking opportunities, our events provide spaces for discussion, collaboration and the sharing of new ideas.
Events play an important role in connecting education, research and industry, helping to showcase emerging talent while fostering critical debate around contemporary media, communication and screen practice.
In September 2025, Screen Academy Scotland supported the annual Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MECCSA) Conference. Hosted at Edinburgh Napier University, the conference brought together researchers, educators and practitioners to explore current developments in media, communication and cultural studies.
The event featured keynote presentations, research papers, panel discussions and networking opportunities, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and the development of new collaborations across the sector.
MECCSA 2025 reflected Screen Academy Scotland’s commitment to supporting research excellence, creative practice and meaningful engagement with contemporary issues affecting media and screen industries.
