We were thrilled to have Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce at Edinburgh Napier University’s Craiglockart Campus on the 1st of December to share his experiences of working on the stage and screen with our students at a special Q&A event. The award-winning actor, who most recently played The High Sparrow in the hit HBO series was in conversation with acclaimed screenwriter, film producer and honorary professor of film at Edinburgh Napier Allan Shiach. The conversation and Q&A covered a wide range of topics as Jonathan recounted his roles in blockbusters Tomorrow Never Dies, the Pirates of the Caribbean series and Evita to name but a few as well as his extensive theatre work. He also looked back at his role in Regeneration the 1997 film adapted by Allan Shiach and directed by Scottish Director Gillies Mackinnon. From the novel of the same name by Pat Barker the film tells the story of WW1 War Poets Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen who spent time in rehabilitation at Craiglockart. The event was introduced by the Director of the Screen Academy Associate Professor Alistair Scott (pictured with Jonathan above)
Jonathan Pryce is currently in Scotland shooting scenes for upcoming film The Wife with Glenn Close and Christian Slater. We are delighted that Edinburgh Napier BA Film Graduate Katri Van Hatalo is currently working as PA to the Director of The Wife Björn Runge
