Three 2016 Screen Academy Scotland MA Film (Producer) graduates have already started to make their mark in the film and TV industry.
Sean Hind has been working pretty much full-time as a Freelance Runner since finishing the MA Film course in September 2016, working on feature films, TV dramas and commercials. He has an upcoming interview in London for a full-time Floor Runner job on a feature film shooting at Pinewood Studios.
His paid work since August has included: Trainspotting 2 (Floor Runner – dailies), The Replacement (Locations Assistant – dailies), Outlander (Crowd Runner – dailies), The Wife (Floor Runner – dailies), Clique (Crowd Runner – dailies), Isolani (3rd AD – cover for main 3rd AD), Anna and The Apocalypse (Floor Runner – dailies). Sean has also worked as Floor Runner for Freak Films, Mallinson Television Productions and The Forest of Black on commercials.
Upon finishing the MA Film course Laura McBride has been working as a Production Assistant at IWC Media,the largest independent television production company in Scotland. She worked across 3 factual entertainment programmes for the Travel Channel, The Lifetime channel and Channel 4 and supported the production team with travel, accommodation and logistical bookings for talent, contributors and crew. Laura also worked supporting with movement orders, call sheets and the editorial team with locations clearances and film permits across 8 UK cities. She did fact checking and post production paperwork too. For her next contract which starts in March 2017 she will be be based in both the Glasgow office and out on location across the U.K.

In February Kiana Kalantar-Hormozi started an internship at Media Co-op to develop a short campaign film about the Care Tax. She is one of thousands of people with disabilities across the UK whose independent living is undermined by the Care Tax.
The Care Tax was on the agenda recently at The Scottish Parliament, with hints towards a piecemeal reform to allow persons with dementia and only certain other disabilities to access free personal care. It was debated on 6th December 2016 in the Scottish Parliament and again on 22nd December in the Public Petitions Committee
Kiana who also graduated from Screen Academy Scotland with an MA in Film had Louise Scott, Director of Media Co-op as one of her mentors. Her internship with Media Co-op is funded by SCVO in partnership with Inclusion Scotland. Kiana will be writing a blog of her experience developing the film for Screen Academy Scotland later in the year. Watch this space!
