Prior to enrolling on the MA Film course at Screen Academy Scotland/Edinburgh Napier, Fraser worked as a Commercial Photographer for clients such as BBC Scotland. He caught the filmmaking bug after a series of commissions as a Unit Stills Photographer.

During the MA Film course, Fraser worked as DoP on a number of well-performing shorts created in collaboration with students at both Edinburgh Napier and Edinburgh College of Art. Event Horizon (written and directed by Joséfa Celestin and produced by Margarita Veberaite both fellow MA Film graduates) was screened at 30+ festivals worldwide, with highlights including Oberhausen and Fantasia. It won Best International Film at the Fetarum Film Festival, Best Photography at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Terror y Fanástico de Córdóba and Best Cinematography at the Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival. Lucid (Written and Directed by Lucy Barnes, MA Film Directing, Screen Academy Scotland/ECA) was nominated in the Drama category of the BAFTA New Talent Scotland Awards in 2016.

After graduating from the MA Film with distinction in 2015, Fraser had his first taste of high end drama production doing dailies as the Camera Trainee on Outlander. He then linked up with fellow MA Film graduates Margarita Veberaite and Joséfa Celestin (the creative team behind Event Horizon), to co-found  production company Shakehaus. After two years with Shakehaus, Fraser is now based in London and predominately involved in Commercial and Corporate work as a Lighting Cameraman, Camera Operator and Photographer.

Recently he has worked with Emmy winning director Ben Green (Carpool Karaoke, An Idiot Abroad) on a video featuring Big Narstie produced by AMV BBDO for Carphone Warehouse, worked with Still Game Director Michael Hines and DoP (and fellow Screen Academy graduate) Julian Schwanitz as a Camera Operator on social media videos for a campaign by The Leith Agency for The Royal Bank of Scotland and as an EPK Camera Operator on BBC drama Ordeal By Innocence.

Fraser says

“Studying at Screen Academy Scotland/Edinburgh Napier provided me with an environment and resources to greatly accelerate the development of my skills as a Cinematographer while also collaborating with and building a network of talented collaborators from all over the world, many of whom I still work with today.”
