Fantastic news that Screen Academy Scotland/ECA alumna Mariana Oliva’s (MFA Film Directing) feature documentary Piripkura has been selected and is screening in competition at Edinburgh International Film Festival in the Documentaries strand. Co-directed with Renata Terra, Bruno Jorge and produced by Mariana, Piripkura won the Amsterdam Human Rights Award at IDFA this year and was released in February 2018 in cinemas in Brazil. The film has also been nominated at various international film festivals (Docville, Cartagena, Thessaloniki) and won Best Documentary at Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. Piripkura tells the story of two of the last three members of the Piripkura still living as nomads in the Amazon rainforest in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso.
Piripkura screens on Sunday the 24th and Tuesday the 26th of June in Filmhouse Cinema 2
