Exciting news that Edinburgh Napier BA Acting for Stage and Screen student Lewis Gribben has a key role in Boyz in the Wood the new feature film that will open the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2019 on June 19th.
Set deep in the Scottish Highlands, Boyz in the Wood tells the story of four boys from the city who are sent on a team-building exercise in which the group must hike solo through the wilderness and emerge, two days later, at the Scottish coast. Lewis plays the dim-witted Duncan, who along with most of the others, seems more interested in smoking weed than completing the challenge as unfortunate events unfold.
He stars in the film alongside screen luminaries Kate Dickie, James Cosmo and Eddie Izzard.
Edinburgh Napier Acting Lecturer Ian Dunn says “From the beginning of his time on the programme at Edinburgh Napier, Lewis has had a certain spontaneity and complexity on camera that make his work compelling. He brings an innocent intensity to the screen in all that he does, be it feature film, student short or his work in screen classes., making him hugely watchable and capable of drawing the audience into his world.”
Since completing Boyz in the Wood Lewis has gone on to work with Screen Academy alumni Ben Sharrock and Irune Gurtubai on the feature film Limbo for Film4/BFI which is currently in post-production.
Well done and congratulations Lewis!
