The Creative Edinburgh Awards celebrate Edinburgh’s creative community, showcasing projects, people, and places that make an impact on the city’s cultural landscape, both locally and internationally. This year, we are thrilled that the Kino Eyes short film
Chop Chop! is shortlisted in the Student category. This likeable comedy was shot in Edinburgh in late 2023 and stars Kareem Nasif as a Scottish-Pakistani father whose relationship with his young son deteriorates when the boy’s orthodox grandfather comes to stay.
The film was made by an international group of postrgraduate students Ievgyn Koshin and Mariia Ivashchenko (Ukraine), Amir Masoud Soheili (Iran), Andjela Jevtović (Serbia), (Croatia), Malek Ben Khaled (Tunisia), working alongside local talents Antonio Pozocević, Urte Rusteikaite and Holly Smith.
Kino Eyes is a international Masters programme supported by Erasmus Plus and taught jointly by Edinburgh Napier University, Lusofona University in Portugal, Tallinn University in Estonia and the National Film School of Ireland.
