We are thrilled that Andrew Rooke, graduate, Screen Academy, ECA MFA Film Directing, has won the Best Film Award at the First Act Film Festival for his graduation film Kayla and Kyle. Kayla and Kyle tells the story of a young transgender man must choose between his family and his identity. Producer Iain Smith, OBE was on hand to present the award at the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Glasgow.
Fellow Screen Academy graduate Kevin Grossett (Edinburgh Napier MA Film) was also nominated for Best Cinematography at First Act Film Fest.
