Fantastic news that Edinburgh Napier graduate Eva Riley (BA Film & Photography) has won the Nahemi prize for best Creative Filmmaking at Encounters her short film The Patriot.  The Patriot screened as part of the National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image (NAHEMI) strand. The Patriot is Eva’s graduation film from the Directing Fiction course at the National Film and Television School which was filmed in Kent on location with two young child actors. Against the backdrop of simmering racial tensions within a rural English community, Patriot is the story of how a young girl’s life changes forever when she meets a boy from a forbidden part of town.

Eva is a Scottish director and screenwriter from Edinburgh currently based in London. She graduated with a BA in Photography and Film from Edinburgh Napier University before going to the National Film and Television School in 2015 where she got an MA in Directing Fiction.

Earlier this year The Patriot was accepted to the official Short Films Competition at Cannes Film Festival 2015.
