Fantastic news that Estonian TV drama series The Deep written by Screen Academy Scotland graduate Lauri Lippmaa (who is head writer) along MA Screenwriting Programme Leader Nigel Smith and fellow graduates Alexia Fernández Frasquet (MA Screenwriting) and Paul Cahill (MA Screenwriting) has just won the top prize of 5k Euros in the first Script Pool TV Award at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn – where it was also awarded The Hyperwriter Award, giving it automatic invitation to the final eight projects selected for the Hypewriter International Series Pitch Forum in June 2020 in Budapest.
The Deep tells the story of a seasoned Estonian homicide detective who is forced to partner with a tech-savvy, ambitious counter-intelligence officer when the daughter of a prominent Estonian family is found dead and her twin sister is kidnapped. As a wave of mysterious cyberattacks cause chaos across the country, their investigation leads them into the murky world of corporate crime, exposing a plot to infiltrate the cutting-edge multi-national digital alliance, the Trust Federation.
Congratulations to Lauri and the entire team of The Deep!
