Screen Academy (ECA) MA Film Directing graduate Lou McLoughlan has just been nominated for a BAFTA Scotland in the best Feature Film category for her first  feature documentary 16 years till Summer . Since its completion in summer 2015 the film has been touring film festival internationally including Vision du Reel and Munich DOK Fest.

It is striking that Lou’s documentary is competing against dramas in a category that has historically included mainly fiction.  16 Years till Summer which has took 4 years to complete, is a development of  Lou’s 2011 graduation short which she made for the MA Film Caring for Calum (winner of UK BAFTA, Grierson and  RTS). Caring for Callum told the story of  ex prisoner Uisdean who in caring for his ageing father confronts his past.

Congratulations Lou!
