Fantastic news that MFA Advanced Film Practice graduate Kelly Holmes has been nominated as Best Female Director at the London Short Film Festival (Jan 6-15th 2017). Kelly’s graduation short film Family Portrait will be screening as part to the Gothic strand on Saturday January 9th

In Family Portrait Margaret must convince her daughter Louise to take responsibility for the family after the death of her father, whilst the family endures the ritual of a family portrait.
Last year Family Portrait won the top prize at Paris Courts Devant where it won post production funding. Paris Courts Devant C3PM is a co-production post-production film market allowing filmmakers the chance to collaborate with French producers and finish post-production on films that have already been through production. Six filmmaking teams pitch to gain the attention of producers with one film winning the grand prize of a broadcast contract with France’s 2nd biggest TV channel ‘France 3’ and a grade with Film Factory Paris. Winning the prize gave Kelly the opportunity to work with industry professionals and increase the audience for the film. Family Portrait screened on France 3 on the 13th of December 2016:
