Screen Academy Scotland celebrates success with Malta

For the past five or six years, Screen Academy Scotland has enjoyed a strong relationship with new screenwriters from Malta. Ever since screenwriter, producer and teacher Jean Pierre Magro completed his MA Screenwriting degree with us in 2009, he has been good enough to recommend the programme to young screenwriters looking to expand their knowledge after undergraduate studies in Malta. So it’s very pleasing to read that Cassi Camilleri’s short film Shab has been selected for the 2015 Short Film Corner at the 2015 Canne Film Festival. This builds on the recent Foreign Language Oscar nomination for another former student from Malta David Grech. This year, we have two talented young screenwriters with Maltese connections who will graduate with feature film scripts under their belts. Here’s to a long and fruitful relationship between Scotland and Malta.
