For the 6th year running Screen Academy Scotland at Edinburgh Napier University is host to The Network, a highly selective talent development scheme for young people which takes place each year as part of the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (GEITF). An intensive introduction to working in the TV industry, The Network brings 50 participants to spend 4 days at GEITF learning practical TV making skills from top programme makers. This year we are delighted that one of our graduates Aude Konan (MA Screenwriting, Edinburgh Napier) is a participant on The Network. Aude is currently working as a script secretary on new Netflix drama The Crown written by Peter Morgan and starring Claire Foy and Matt Smith.
As part of our partnership with The Network two of our current students Colin Morris (MA Film Directing, ECA) and Salome Hevin (MA Film Directing, ECA) have received full TV Festival passes. Four other students (MA Screenwriters, Max Barth, Tom Swash, Hanna Lappalainen and MA Film Directing Viktoria Kolchnya) were able to attend the McTaggert Lecture which this year was delivered by Armando Iannucci, creator of hit television series In the Thick of It and Veep.
