Our students and graduates have been working hard this summer finishing off their graduation films and going out on work placements or to employment in the industry. Here is a round up of what they have been up to since June.
On the 11th June we were delighted that Screen Academy Students were invited for a studio tour of Sony Pictures/Starz production ‘Outlander’ on site in Cumbernauld. Thanks to Studio Manager Olivia Gifford and Production Manager Michael Wilson for showing us around the amazing set and making us feel most welcome.
Our students are out in force in the industry this summer with Veronika Koubova (MA Film Directing, ECA) having just been offered work as a runner at Pinewood Studios, London on an as yet unannounced project. Margarita Verberaite (MA Film, Edinburgh Napier) is currently working as a production assistant at Faction North in Edinburgh and Josefa Celestin (MA Film Edinburgh Napier) is currently working as a runner on a Freakworks commercial filming in Edinburgh.
Claire Ritchie (graduate of MA Film Edinburgh Napier) has just finished a three month summer intership at Media Trust in London. Adam Harper (graduate of MA Film Edinburgh Napier) has just finished post production work experience in London on the upcoming 6 part BBC adaptation of War and Peace by Andrew Davies. MA Film, Edinburgh Napier graduate Colin Healy just finished a stint working as a researcher for The One Show, BBC 1. Simon Price also a graduate of the MA Film, has just been offered the job of locations trainee for the BBC production One of Us a new 4 part drama produced by BBC Scotland and filmed in Edinburgh and the Highlands. MA Film graduate Gabriel Costa has also recently been hired as a floor runner on the Scottish Feature Moon Dogs which is finishing shooting in the Scottish Highland this week. This summer MA Film (Edinburgh Napier) graduate Jaime Sotelo has been working as boom operator on a feature called You Can Tutu, directed by James Brown. Since graduating Jaime has worked on four features including as sound recordist and sound engineer on Timo Langer’s film (Mark Cousin’s editor) and on two features in Spain as dialogue editor and ADR technician.
