Professional Practice Event – What’s Next Workshops
The final Professional Practice event for the Screen Academy academic year 2013-14 was a session called ‘What’s Next Workshops’ which were laid on for our graduating MAs and MFAs on September 4th. Workshops included ‘How to set yourself up as a freelancer’ and ‘Career Opportunities and how to market yourself’. There was also a panel discussion with three recent Screen Academy Graduates called ‘The Freelancer Story’ where they described their own routes to industry, the highs, the lows and everything in between.
Following the panel discussion the 3 graduates Chris Lindsay (MA Screenwriting, Edinburgh Napier University), Lili Sandelin (MFA ADvanced Film Practice, Edinburgh Napier University) and Duncan Cowles (BA Film & TV, Edinburgh College of Art) were interviewed by BA TV student Larah Bross. The video interviews can be viewed on the Screen Academy Vimeo channel.
We were also delighted to have Matt Lloyd, Director of Glasgow Short Film Festival there on the day to share his insights on festival submissions, short film distribution strategy, online distribution, developing a social media profile and sales opportunities for short film.
