Zoë Irvine

Is a sound designer, sound artist and educator working in a variety of genres in film, theatre and art in Scotland and internationally.

Zoë is recognised as a highly creative sound designer who can take control of the entire post-production sound on smaller scale films – score, dialogue, ADR, foley and mix. When working on larger scale films she is delighted to work as part of a larger sound department and tends to work as dialogue editor, sound editor and supervising sound designer, working together with a dubbing mixer and if the situation is luxurious others too. Zoë is also a field recordist and brings this extensive self built library to her sound design work. She has recently expanded into location sound for documentary too. Zoë was Lecturer in Sound at Duncan of Jordanston College of Art and Design (2006 – 2014), and now teaches freelance with Edinburgh Napier for BA and MA film students and at Edinburgh College of Art, where she annually teaches a project as part of the Sound Design Masters course.
