This year saw an unprecedented conversion of young people who had taken part in BFI Film Academy starting their University careers on the BA Film course at Edinburgh Napier University. BFI Film Academy is delivered by Screen Education Edinburgh, a charity dedicated to transforming lives through the medium of film, developing young people, new talent and independent filmmakers.
Screen Education Edinburgh provides young participants with a range of filmmaking projects, starting with one-day tasters then graduating onto ‘Introduction to Film’ and ‘Next Steps’ programmes. From there participants can move onto more advanced courses, including the ‘BFI Film Academy’ and the ‘A Level in Moving Image Arts’, ensuring a true ladder of progression & development for participants and providing a strong portfolio of work and qualifications for progression into further & higher education, and the film & TV industries.
The BA Film course has really benefitted from having a local youth film charity training and inspiring young people to consider creative practice and career in film and TV.
